Families
in Transition is a class for parents of minor children who are going through a
divorce, separation, change of custody, legitimization, or some other change in
family structure. It focuses on co-parenting issues such as children's developmental
levels and appropriate behaviors; stages of grief; the statistical facts about
divorce; finances; blended families; what children need to do to adjust to family
change; telling the children; resources, including books for children and adults;
and other services for families.
Anyone may
attend this class, although it is court mandated for both parents
of children 18 or under seeking divorce. The cost of the class is
$30. In order to get a certificate of completion (which the
court requires), you must have your Civil Action Number, which is
on the legal papers. Classes are held five times a month, with locations
in Bibb and Houston counties. You may call 478-745-2811
to register.
